I work with the 19th century photographic print making processes of platinum, palladium, carbon transfer, cyanotype and gum bichromate for their subtle tonal range, luminosity and inherent permanence. These manual processes help me make my prints in a pictoralist and painterly manner to render the extraordinary beauty and drama of the New Zealand landscape. My prints are labour intensive and influenced by many variables, some I try to control, others I leave for serendipity to make her mark.

My work is contemplative, a time for quiet and a means of escape from today’s hectic world which is why I enjoy my photography and printmaking so much.

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever, its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness”  –  John Keats
